GD Chair says Georgia imposed no sanctions but will not bypass sanctions

Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, Irakli Kobakhidze said the Georgian government decided not to impose sanctions on Russia but would not admit bypassing the sanctions.

Irakli Kobakhidze said the radical opposition’s demand to impose sanctions on Russia aimed at organizing disorder in the country.

The GD Chair further argued that imposition of sanctions would cause decrease of Georgian economy by 10-18%.

“The demand of sanctions aims to worsen the situation, create economic problems, cause chaos and disorder. They hope this will lead to the second front. However, this attempt will be futile,” he said.
