Politicizing the judiciary is against EU values. The Georgian government will not admit that the United National Movement and “their patrons” meddled in the court’s independence, said Irakli Kobakhidze, Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party.
According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the UNM tried to interfere in the court’s independence harshly several times and one case was summoning Judge Chkhikvadze for explanations. However, such attempts are in the past.
“The independence of the judiciary is one of the main achievements of our government, and therefore, we take special care of it. Neither the government nor any other entity should try to interfere with the independence of the judiciary,” he said.
