GD Chair hopes UNM to be neutralized

Irakli Kobakhidze, Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party wished all opposition parties success in their struggle for second place in the election race.

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the UNM’s rating is gradually decreasing every election and this process will continue.

“I hope that finally, the UNM will be neutralized from Georgian politics, which is key for our democratic system’s correct development,” he said, adding the UNM should be replaced by “healthy opposition forces.”

The GD Chair said he could not see “serious forces” which could play a decisive role in the elections. But one year and a half was ahead and such parties could emerge.

“The problem of Georgian politics is oligarchization. We need de-oligarchization, freeing from Kezerashvili, Saakashvili and others. I hope the process will head toward this direction,” he stated.
