GD Chair hopes President to act in Georgia's interests rather than external pressure
Irakli Kobakhidze, Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, hoped that President Salome Zourabichvili would prioritize the interests of the country in regard to Mikheil Saakashvili rather than being influenced by external factors.
In response to a question about a draft initiated in the Ukrainian Rada regarding Georgia’s ex-President, GD Chair emphasized the importance of considering the motives behind these actions.
“Coordination is obvious here, and coordination serves a single purpose: polarization and confusion; and the second front, after all. If you look closely, you will notice that the same individuals, who attempted to push for a second front in Georgia, are behind this coordination. Including individuals who specifically requested that we open a second front. As a result, society must question itself, “What is the point of it all?”
As for Salome Zourabichvili, I hope that she would at least make a decision that is in the best interests of the country rather than acting according to the dictates of someone else’s interests. Let’s see where she ends up,” Kobakhidze stated.
The Ukrainian Rada registered a draft appeal to the President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, and the EU parliaments on the need to implement a humanitarian act and pardon “the third President of Georgia (2004-2013), a citizen of Ukraine, Mikheil Saakashvili.”
