GD Chair deems menacing, blackmailing with sanctions as not productive
“Imposition of sanctions on the country, people is not the right approach,” said Irakli Garibashvili, Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party in response to the question on the statements of partners over the adopted law On Transparency of Foreign Influence.
According to the GD Chair, menacing and blackmailing are not productive and result-oriented, while dialogue with partners should continue.
“I, the Prime Minister and Parliament Speaker have said many times that the ruling team is ready for discussions. If the veto is the outcome and it is possible to find a solution to discharge the situation, calm down all the involved stakeholders and adopt what is acceptable, this would be an ideal case.
As for our partners, dialogue, and discussion should continue. Imposition of sanctions on the country and people is not the right approach. We reiterate that we want discussion. However, menacing, blackmailing and such statements are not productive and result-oriented,” he said.
