GD Chair: Bidzina Ivanishvili's return to politics to strengthen team, country

“Bidzina Ivanishvili’s return to politics is a significant event in our political life. It will strengthen both our team and the country and will give Georgia a chance to reach huge successes,” said Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party.

Irakli Kobakhidze thanked Bidzina Ivanishvili for his decision. He underscored that “giving advice is natural and healthy. “Any speculations about informal governance ended today,” he said.

According to the GD Chair, Bidzina Ivanishvili’s “authority is a problem for external partners and patrons of the National Movement party.” He said that Ivanishvili defeated a bloody regime in 2012 and established a democracy instead of authoritarianism in Georgia.

Bidzina Ivanishvili, Founder and former Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party announced his comeback into politics. He will be the GD’s Honorable Chairman.
