GD Chair: Any calls for violence doomed to failure

“Whatever are the calls for violence on the part of Givi Targamadze (former UNM member) or any other leaders of the United National Movement party, they will be doomed to failure,” said Irakli Kobakhidze, Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party.

Kobakhidze reacted to the remark of former UNM member Givi Targamadze saying that “upstart rallies will be unsuccessful.”

The GD Chair said the UNM representatives could not extort violence on people from 2012 but were looking for new forms and methods of violence.

“The government is in its place and will not admit realization of violent plans,” he stated.

On May 23, Givi Targamadze told TV Pirveli: “Who said the European protest was calm and sophisticated? Half of Paris was burned down because of pensions back then. I’m not saying everything must be burned, but if it does, there’s nothing terrible about it, and upstart demonstrations and protests will have no result.”
