GD Chair Accuses President of campaigning against EU candidate status

Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, accuses President Salome Zourabichvili of waging a campaign against the EU candidate status.

Irakli Kobakhidze reminded President Salome Zourabichvili of her remarks made in the parliament regarding the EU candidate status when the President argued whether Georgia deserved the candidate status last year.

The GD Chair noted that it did not matter whether the president uttered damaging statements from Georgia’s supreme legislative body or the European Parliament.

“This person has directly admitted that she is waging a campaign against candidate status. It is not just fear, it is a fact, and it does matter if she does it from Georgia or Europe. It’s the same, and that’s the logic,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
