Gakharia's Khvedeliani: Local elections are crucial battleground in fight against GD regime

Tata Khvedeliani, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party, stated that their party, in collaboration with Lelo, is currently engaged in comprehensive consultations concerning both mayoral and majoritarian candidates.

However, she emphasised that it is too early to discuss specific candidacies at this stage.

“There are numerous issues to be discussed and many potential candidates to consider. Therefore, we cannot confirm any specific candidacy at this moment. However, I want to assure you that we have entered an active phase; we are exploring various options. We have until September 4 to submit acceptable candidacies. Of course, these candidates will be highly worthy individuals, chosen by consensus, to ensure that our decision resonates with the voters, including those who have chosen to boycott the elections.

We have not yet reached an agreement on a specific candidate, and at this point, we are not able to discuss any names. The decision will not be swayed by internal political factors, the SSSG, or propaganda media,” stated Tata Khvedeliani.

Regarding whether Aleko Elisashvili’s candidacy has been considered, Khvedeliani explained that multiple potential candidates are currently under discussion. However, she cannot confirm any particular name at this time.

“As a colleague, I hold great respect for him. However, I cannot comment on any particular candidacy. Many individuals and options are being considered between us and Lelo. It is a working process. I will neither approve nor reject any candidate at this stage.

Ultimately, the fate of our country depends on these local elections. They are incredibly important, as we and Lelo are fighting to challenge the Georgian Dream regime,” Khvedeliani concluded.
