President of France Emmanuel Macron invited Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to the first International Space Summit, which will be held at the Grand Palais in Paris on September 9 and 10, 2026.

According to the Georgian Government Administration, France and Germany will co-chair the summit, and the event will focus on science, research, security and defence issues.

The French President stated in the letter that “today, more than ever, space represents a crucial vector of power and prosperity.”

“The dynamism of industrial players, the sector’s increasingly dual-use (civil and military) nature, and intensified competition require coordinated action to fully acknowledge its technological potential and accelerate the sustainable and responsible development of the space economy.

The summit will create an opportunity to underscore the significance of dialogue and cooperation not only among the states but also among companies and multilateral actors. Our duty is to ensure the sustainability of space activities, starting today, for the benefit of our shared well-being and future generations; this summit offers the opportunity to reinforce precisely this ambition.

Moreover, we will have the opportunity to showcase the expertise of our space industries and agencies, as well as the high standard of our cooperation at scientific, industrial, technical, and economic levels.

It is especially significant for us, alongside you and other invited countries, to define the summit format to conclude the event with strong messages and concrete steps.

Our goal is to turn this meeting into an outstanding opportunity to reaffirm the importance of space challenges in support of multifaceted cooperation in space that is needed now more than ever.

I count on your support and will be pleased to host you in Paris in September of 2026. Mr Prime Minister, please accept my deep respect,” reads the official invitation letter.
