French Ministry of Armed Forces and Veterans: France continues to support Georgian Defence Forces in facing contemporary threats
On the fringes of the Eurosatory international defence and security exhibition, the French Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans, Catherine Vautrin, met with her Georgian counterpart, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Irakli Chikovani.
The French Ministry of the Armed Forces and Veterans reported that during the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the critical importance of bilateral defence cooperation.
“Since the 2000s, France has supported Georgia in this strategic domain, in close coordination with the NATO Liaison Office in Tbilisi. This cooperation underscores France’s steadfast commitment to the sovereignty of Georgia, a country where 20% of the territory remains under Russian occupation.
France continues to back the Georgian Defence Forces to help them develop their capabilities to confront contemporary threats across the air, maritime, and mountain warfare domains, within a regional context shaped by persistent security challenges,” the statement read.
