Pawel Herczynski, EU ambassador to Georgia said the forthcoming weeks would be “crucial” for Georgia as the nation is expecting a first-ever enlargement report with recommendations.
“And at the end of this year, in the middle of December, 27 EU member states at the highest political level, at the level of presidents and Prime Ministers, will decide on the next steps when it comes to Georgia’s integration process,” he went on.
Herczynski said he was invited by the President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili along with fellow EU ambassadors to share her plans for the next couple of weeks.
“The president plans to be very active in support of candidate status for Georgia. In our view, in the view of the European Union, this is a crucial moment in which we need everyone to work very hard in order to convince 27 member states that Georgia has made enough progress in order to be granted candidate status.
I’m really happy that the prime minister of Georgia is today in Brussels. He is taking part in a very important event, Global Gateway. But he also had several meetings with key stakeholders. Clearly a very intensive agenda in front of us. And this is a time for unity and everyone working in the same direction, in the direction of European Union integration,” he noted.
