“Tornike Rizhvadze [former Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara] was admitted to Sagarejo Geohospital with a gunshot wound. His condition is serious but stable. An investigation has been launched under the article of abetment to suicide,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated.

“On July 7, 2025, Tornike Rizhvadze was admitted to Sagarejo Geohospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation under Article 115 of the Criminal Code, which stipulates suicide incitement. Intensive investigative actions are currently underway.

Rizhvadze received emergency medical treatment. According to doctors, he sustained a lung injury and remains in stable but serious condition.
Additionally, one individual has been detained under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Georgia for the negligent storage of a firearm,” the MIA stated.
