Foreign Relations Committee Chair says Georgian government to believe in EU’s impartiality if it distances itself from violence, offence, attack on Presidential Palace

Chairman of the parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, believes that the European Union does not distance itself from violence, and this is negatively reflected in its image in Georgian society.

According to Samkharadze, EU membership remains the top priority of the Georgian government’s foreign policy.

“On the one hand, we face silence and disregard of attacks and use of hate speech, and on the other hand, constant criticism of everything that the Georgian Dream does. This is a biased attitude. When you are not condemning, it may be perceived as motivation.

The Georgian government will believe in the EU’s impartiality if it distances itself from violence, offence, and the attack on the Presidential Palace. Regrettably, we do not see confirmation of that. This does not fit the EU’s interests. The EU’s image within Georgian society is being tarnished, and this is also confirmed by the latest research.

We do not rejoice in this fact since EU membership remains the top priority of the Georgian government’s foreign policy. The EU’s image should not be tarnished. We tell them that their behavior is incorrect, but they keep on the same policy. Kaja Kallas says openly that she dislikes the Georgian government.
