Foreign Relations Committee Chair announces visits to European capitals
Nikoloz Samkharadze, the chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, says that the parliamentary delegation of Georgia is starting a visit to Malta today. During this visit, the conversation will focus on Georgia’s progress in implementing the EC’s recommendations, as well as support for Georgia’s European path.
Samkharadze expects Malta will be a strong supporter of Georgia in gaining candidate status. According to him, visits to European capitals will be made until December.
“We intend to visit European capitals to discuss Georgia’s progress in meeting EC’s recommendations, as well as to gain support from each capital because in this case, it is critical that all 27 states have a clear position on granting Georgia candidate status.
We will meet with the Speaker and Committee Chairs of the Malta Parliament, as well as the Republic President. We hope that after this visit, Malta will be one of the strongest supporters of granting candidate status to Georgia,” said Nikoloz Samkharadze.
