Foreign citizen arrested in Adjara after major drug seizure

Officers of the Ajara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested a German citizen, V.B., born in 2002, on charges of facilitating the illegal purchase, storage, and sale of a particularly large quantity of narcotic drugs.

According to the Ministry, during a search of the detainee’s personal belongings and temporary residence, law enforcement officers seized a particularly large amount of the narcotic drug methadone, which had been prepared for sale. Police also confiscated packaging materials used for distributing the substance.

The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260 and 260⁴ of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provide for penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
