Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili appealed to Georgia citizens who, in his words, “obstruct tourism development in the country with their statements or behaviour.”

The FM said he could not understand the difference between the visitors arriving by air, land or sea.

“This is a direct, deliberate provocation to harm our country, obstruct the development of tourism and cause destruction,” he said.

Ilia Darchiashvili reiterated that Georgia complies with all international standards to prevent circumvention of sanctions.

“There is no case when any sanctioned airline or other transport entered our country. Accordingly, Georgia fulfils its obligations in terms of international regulations; this will continue in the future,” he stated.

Georgian citizens protested at the Batumi port against the entry of the cruise liner Astoria Grande with Russian passengers on board. The ship arrived in Batumi for the second time this week. It last took Russian citizens to Batumi on July 27.
