FM says gov't to spare no effort on nation's EU integration path

Ilia Darchiashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs says the Georgian government will spare no effort on the nation’s path to EU integration.

Darchiashvili on Monday introduced the media and the public to the EU recommendation action plan, which has already been sent to the European Commission, noting that the Government and Parliament are responsible for that plan.

He stated that the first advice was to combat disinformation about the European Union and its values. According to Darchiashvili, the government has already approved a communication strategy for 2024-2027, with activities.

In response to the request to overcome political polarisation, the Minister stated that “the government will take every step to ensure inclusiveness.”

The FM added that one part of the EU recommendation plan is to ensure a free, fair and competitive electoral process, especially in 2024 and fully consider the OSCE/ODIHR recommendations, to complete the election reform long before the election day.

“The Georgian authorities have expressed their willingness to collaborate closely with the ODIHR, as it is a major organisation that monitors elections,” he said.
