“Gocha Javakhishvili (Georgia’s Ambassador to France) insulted the state and each worthy diplomat who serves Georgia’s state interests,” Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili wrote on Facebook.
The FM clarified that Gocha Javakhishvili made a statement several hours after the termination of his duties.
“During the last years, Gocha Javakhishvili represented our country in one of the leading European states from the highest position – as an ambassador – and he should best understand what efforts we made in this period to ensure the European future of Georgia.
The diplomatic service of Georgia has always stood and stands at the height of service and is fully aware of its responsibility towards the country.
The employees of our ministry have made an immeasurable contribution to the irreversibility of Georgia’s European future and will accomplish the process of EU integration. This country will become a worthy and full-fledged member of the European family.
Regrettably, with his decision, Gocha Javakhishvili missed his chance to participate in this process,” Ilia Darchiashvili said.
Gocha Javakhishvili resigned as Georgia’s Ambassador to France on May 9.
