FM says Georgia deserves EU candidate status

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Sunday echoed the President’s upcoming visit to European Parliament, saying “Each of us who participate in developing and implementing our foreign policy should emphasize, as it always has, that we deserve EU candidate status.”

According to Darchiashvili, “Candidate status is crucial for Georgia.”

“There is very little left to complete the implementation of the recommendations and begin the process to obtain the status, which will be a new step on our path to European integration,” the FM asserted.

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili will address the EP in Brussels on 31 May.
