FM says Georgia clearly fulfils all its obligations, with no evasion of sanctions revealed
Georgia clearly meets all of its international commitments, Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili said at a joint press conference with his Danish counterpart, adding that not a single case of anyone evading international sanctions through Georgia has been revealed since the outset of the war in Ukraine.
“This is our commitment to our partners, and we will always fulfil it. It is our responsibility. As a result, Georgia is highly transparent and open in this regard, and Georgia, along with the international community and partners, will continue to work vigorously in this direction. In this regard, we closely cooperate with our international partners, and we collaborate transparently on sanctions,” Ilia Darchiashvili stated.
When questioned by a Danish journalist if Georgia would follow the policy of sanctions against Russia if it became a member of the European Union, Darchiashvili replied:
“Georgia is working with the European Union to obtain candidate country status. It is a step along the road to full membership. Full membership takes time, and Georgia has been waiting for it for years. We are a responsible partner and an associate member of the European Union and meet all our commitments to our partners. Therefore, the efforts the nation has taken with very tight coordination are particularly apparent and easy to see “, stated Ilia Darchiashvili.
