FM says during meeting with Canadian colleague, she discussed global situation, where Georgia, Canada can cooperate

Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili said that during the meeting with Foreign Minister of Canada Anita Anand, she reviewed relations between the two countries, common challenges and future cooperation prospects.

“I am visiting Canada, and this opportunity should not have been missed. High-level bilateral visits between our countries do not occur frequently, so this was a good opportunity. I met with the Foreign Minister. We discussed relations between our countries, shared challenges, and common perspectives—specifically, how we view the global situation and where we can cooperate.

We are members of international organizations, including the OSCE. Georgia has submitted its candidacy for the OSCE Chairmanship in 2027. Therefore, Canada’s support is significant. Generally, decisions are made by consensus, and support from all participating states is important to us,” she said.

As Maka Botchorishvili explained, at the meeting, the two FMs discussed shared visions and common interests regarding the European Union.

“The European Union is a significant partner for Georgia. We are an EU-associated country. Naturally, we are also focused on relations between Canada and the European Union and how this partnership will evolve. We discussed these matters as well, along with our shared visions and common interests,” she said.
