FM meets CoE Commissioner for Human Rights
Maka Botchorishvili, Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Michael O’Flaherty, the Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights.
During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of cooperation, ongoing processes in the country and steps taken in terms of protecting human rights.
Maka Botchorishvili provided the Commissioner with information on the security, humanitarian and human rights situation in occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.
The Minister stressed the need to keep the Russia-Georgia conflict high on the agenda of the international community, including the Council of Europe, and in this context, emphasized the significance of the Secretary General’s consolidated reports.
Within the framework of his visit, the CoE Commissioner for Human Rights visited Odzisi village, which is located near the occupational line, and the IDPs’ settlement in Tserovani village.
