FM expresses readiness to resume political dialogue with U.S.

“We express full readiness to resume a political dialogue with the U.S. and expect the same from the U.S.,” said Georgian Vice Prime Minister/ Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili in the Chronicles of the Day programme.

According to the FM, during the first meeting with the US Chargé d’Affaires ad interim to Georgia, Amy W. Diaz, the sides reviewed the Georgia-U.S. relations agenda. Bothorishvili believes that positive signs of relations improvement accompanied by activities have been outlined lately.

“We have voiced our position many times on what we expect from the relations with the U.S. We wish these relations were based on mutual respect and that a healthy strategic partnership be contextual. We will continue to work in this direction,” she said.

In Botchorishvili’s words, both sides agree to start a new stage of strategic partnership from a “clear page.”

“Both sides share the idea to resume talks on the reset of strategic partnership from a clear page. We also believe, and share this view with the United States, that our strategic partnership should be contextual; the details and content of this are matters for diplomatic work and political dialogue,” she said.
