FM Darchiashvili says EaP platfom allows Georgia to accelerate EU integration

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili deems the Eastern Partnership (EaP) platform “useful” as “it brought a lot of important impulses not only for us but also for Moldova and Ukraine.”

According to Darchiashvili, Georgia’s main message at the EaP ministerial in Brussels will be to be actively involved in this very format in the future as “it allows us to strengthen and accelerate our European integration.”

Darchiashvili says “the active talks” by Joseph Borell and the foreign ministers of the partner member states about Georgia’s reforms are “paramount.”

“This is a very strong signal for us to continue reforms as this is an inevitable process, the European integration of our country is directly related to ongoing reforms,” he went on.

Darchiashvili also spoke about Hungary’s support for Georgia, noting that Hungary “unequivocally supports” the granting of candidate country status to Georgia.

“We are grateful to the Hungarian authorities for their very clear messages regarding the European integration of our country,”  he added.
