FM Botchorishvili: Maidan scenario for Georgia was not only discussed but prepared
“It is unacceptable when there is such sharp interference in a country’s domestic political life,” stated Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, commenting on the statement by the Bureau of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, which reads that the Georgian government should pave the way for free and fair repeat elections at the national level and postpone local elections.
According to the Minister, it is complex to comment when, on one hand, the Council of Europe wants to present that the opposition speaks and acts on behalf of the entire nation and the whole Georgian people, and on the other hand, it appears that the opposition is not ready to participate in elections and needs time to mobilize supporters.
Maka Botchorishvili also addressed statements made by certain foreign politicians.
“The Swedish politician’s call, besides being interference, is once again a revelation of the desires that exist in the minds of specific politicians regarding Georgia. This means chaos in Georgia, destabilization, and the development of various scenarios against the country’s constitutional order. This includes the ‘Maidan’ scenario, which was not only discussed but was actually being prepared,” stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
