Ilia Darchiashvili, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, addressed those actively working against Georgia and its valuable heritage, asserting that they will not succeed in causing harm.
“The Georgian Dream has worked tirelessly to integrate Georgia into the European family. I want to remind you of the self-sacrificing efforts of our opponents, who sought to prevent Georgia from obtaining visa liberalization, gaining associate membership in the European Union, and enjoying benefits meant for our citizens. Their actions directly counter our nation’s interests, and we no longer believe this is unintentional. These are deliberate steps taken against Georgia,” he stated.
“People recognize and appreciate this. To those who are purposefully fighting against our country and the accomplishments we treasure—rest assured, you cannot undermine them,” the Foreign Minister continued.
“In recent years, we have put tremendous effort into making Georgia a worthy member of the European family. Our government has worked tirelessly to secure candidate status for Georgia, enabling our citizens to travel to EU member states without a visa and establishing a free trade agreement with the European Union. We will continue on this path and ensure that Georgia achieves full EU membership; our opponents will not succeed in undermining these efforts.
I urge them to cease actions that harm our country, our foreign policy, and the interests of our people,” Darchiashvili concluded.
For context, the McCain Institute report revealed that some Georgian NGOs are calling for the suspension of the visa-free regime with the European Union.
