First Vice Speaker: If Eka Gigauri were in power, would she impose economic sanctions on Russia or start war to liberate territories?
“If Eka Gigauri were in power, would she impose economic sanctions on Russia or start a war to liberate the territories?” Gia Volski, First Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, told the GPB’s First Channel.
Volski responded to the question on the address of Eka Gigauri, Executive Director of Transparency International – Georgia, at the Foreign Relations Committee in the Parliament of the Netherlands.
“History repeats itself. When there was tension in Georgia, and they were trying to maintain unity, a nobleman would appear here, go to the court of the king of another country, fall on his knees, and ask for an army to punish his own country.
In modern times, this happens with an address delivered in the parliament. It is regrettable that this happens. But there is a pragmatic part. Why do they do it? What did we fail to do? If Eka Gigauri were in power, what would she do in relation to Russia that the acting government does not do? Would she impose economic sanctions on Russia or start a war to liberate the territories? What they do is an act of treachery that has no justification, either pragmatic or emotional,” he said.
