First Vice Speaker deems it natural to ban party affiliated with human casualties, territorial occupation
“In any European country, the party, which won elections, would oppose the party, which put the country in partial occupation, sold strategic objects and committed a crime before the country,” said Gia Volski, First Vice Speaker.
According to Gia Volski, the United National Movement (UNM) party has no prospects to come back into power because it threatens with destabilization.
“There is no European country and ask Peter Stano if there is any, which would not hold the government, which threatens with destabilization, accountable. Of course, this does not mean that concrete individuals or everyone are held responsible.
However, once and forever, for Georgian history, it should be told what crime they committed and why a particular party has no prospects of coming back into power. This is an ordinary standard that an individual should be banned from politics if this person inflicted such harm to the country as human casualties of occupation of territories,” said Gia Volski.
Speaking to POLITICO, Peter Stano, the EU’s Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, said that Brussels was “concerned” by the GD’s proposed “ban of all opposition parties.
