Finland to support Georgia’s NATO membership, Finnish MP says

Following the meeting between the Georgian and Finnish delegations within the framework of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Madrid, Finnish MP Mikko Savola said Georgia and Finland are tied by partnership and friendship.

“Finland will do its best for Georgia’s NATO membership once it becomes a full-fledged member of the alliance,” Mikko Savola said.

According to the Finnish MP, 28 countries already made the decision on Finland’s NATO membership, pending the opinion of two others.

Permanent Delegation of the Georgian Parliament to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly participates in the annual session of the NATO PA in Madrid, Spain.

Members of the delegation, headed by chair of the Defense and Security committee Irakli Beraia, are holding meetings within the framework of the NATO PA.

The delegation also includes First Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Relations committee Giorgi Khelashvili, and deputies of the Defense and Security committee Vladimer Chachibaia and Teona Akubardia.
