Finance Minister says no basis to doubt Georgia enforced anti-Russian sanctions

Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili on Monday said “there is no reason to doubt that the sanctions are not being effectively implemented in Georgia because the administration regularly discusses information with the US and the EU.”

“The growth of tourism and export in Georgia was much higher without Russia than with it. Therefore, it is preferable to depend on official figures,” Khutsishvili underscored after the Cabinet meeting.

Alluding to the execution of the sanctions, Finance Minister noted that the Georgian government and the National Bank carry out “very strict control” in this regard.

“It is safe to say that Georgia is one of the advanced countries in enforcement of international sanctions,” he added.
