Finance Minister: Georgia’s priorities align with new U.S. administration

“Georgia plays a critically important role in the implementation of international sanctions in the region,” Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili stated following a meeting at the U.S. Treasury Department.

He highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the Georgian Ministry of Finance and the U.S. Treasury, noting that all key national priorities were discussed during the meeting.

“We reviewed all important matters, including closer alignment between U.S. and Georgian positions in international financial institutions—an ongoing process under the new U.S. administration. It was confirmed that Georgia’s priorities fully align with those of the new administration. We agreed to continue and deepen our cooperation,” said Khutsishvili.

The minister added that the meeting also focused on Georgia’s efforts in implementing international sanctions.

“We addressed all relevant issues currently on the agenda. Georgia’s significant role in sanctions enforcement was clearly recognized, as was our successful cooperation with the U.S. Treasury. We reaffirmed our commitment to intensify joint efforts in this direction,” the minister concluded.
