FIE Secretary General praises Georgia for high-level hosting of World Championships
The Secretary General of the International Fencing Federation, Gulnora Saidova, has thanked the Government of Georgia and the Georgian Fencing Federation for the high-level organization and warm hospitality of the 2025 World Championships. The statement is included in an official letter addressed to the President of the Georgian Fencing Federation, Merab Bazadze.
According to the letter, the championship was conducted in full accordance with the highest international standards, creating a special atmosphere for athletes, officials, and fencing fans.
“On behalf of the International Fencing Federation (FIE), we wish to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Government of Georgia and the Georgian Fencing Federation for the exceptional organization and warm hospitality during the 2025 Fencing World Championships held in Tbilisi.
From the moment the event was awarded to your country, our collaboration has been marked by professionalism, efficiency, and mutual respect. The Championships, held from 22 to 30 July 2025 at the Tbilisi Olympic Palace, were conducted to the highest international standards, creating an outstanding atmosphere for athletes, officials, and fencing enthusiasts alike.
With the participation of 112 nations, 968 individual athletes and 63 teams, the event showcased not only the excellence of Georgian organization but also the country’s genuine commitment to promoting sport and international friendship.
We were deeply honored by the strong support of the Georgian Government, highlighted by the presence at the Opening Ceremony of H.E. Mikheil Kavelashvili, President of Georgia, H.E. Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister, and numerous distinguished members of the Government and Parliament. Their presence reflected the national pride and dedication that contributed greatly to the success of the Championships.
We also acknowledge the remarkable work of the Georgian Fencing Federation, whose leadership, attention to detail, and enthusiasm ensured that the event fully met the FIE’s standards and offered the ideal environment for our athletes to perform at their best.
