External Merchandise trade up by 18% in January-July

In January-July 2023 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 12 105.5 million, 18.0% higher to the same period of 2022, Geostat reported on Monday.

The exports equaled USD 3 583.4 million (15.9 % higher), while the imports stood at USD 8 522.1 million (19.0% higher).

The negative trade balance was USD 4 938.7 million in January-July 2023 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 40.8%.

In January-July 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 80.8%. The top partners were Armenia (USD 495.0 million), Azerbaijan (USD 485.3 million) and Russia (USD 416.2 million).

In January-July 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 70.7 percent. The top partners were Turkey (USD 1 420.6 million), Russia (USD 1 087.5 million) and USA (USD 975.3 million).
