European Integration Committee Chair: Black Sea must be bridge of security and peace

We will have the opportunity to work with partners and friends on the security, economy and other areas of the Black Sea over the next six months, Levan Makhashvili, the chairman of the parliamentary European Integration Committee, told the GPB First Channel.

According to him, the Black Sea should be an area of security, not confrontation.

“Georgia has been a member of this organization for a decade. The chairmanship of the organization was transferred from Bulgaria to Georgia. We will have the opportunity to work with partners and friends on the security, economy and other areas of the Black Sea over the next six months. We will try to help and support the authorities so that the Black Sea is a bridge of security and peace, not an area of confrontation,” Makhashvili said.

For information, Georgia has become the chairman of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, BSEC, for a six-month term.
