European Integration Chair: Gov't ensures visa-free travel with EU, opposition engaged in mischief

The Georgian government is taking all necessary steps to fulfil its international obligations, including safeguarding the smooth functioning of visa-free travel with the European Union, Parliament’s European Integration Committee Chairman Levan Makhashvili said.

According to Makhashvili, the government continues active work with Brussels, while the opposition is “engaged in idleness and mischief.”

“They are trying to create problems out of non-existent issues and harm society for their own political goals. Several protests have been announced, but life in Georgia will continue as usual. According to objective criteria, there are no problems in this regard,” Makhashvili stated.

He emphasized that the government has already provided the European Commission with a completed questionnaire and addressed the recommendations issued earlier.

“We are continuing the working process with the European Union so that visa-free travel is protected on the one hand, and Georgia’s national interests are safeguarded on the other,” Makhashvili added.
