European Georgia: UNM Chair’s imprisonment to be problem for government
Giga Bokeria, Leader of the opposition European Georgia party said that the imprisonment of Nika Melia, Chairman of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party was a problem to the government both internally and abroad.
Bokeria responded to posting of the bail for Nika Melia, Chairman of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party by the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia.
“Nika Melia should be free. He is a political prisoner. He will be released through one or the other form. The government would have released him in any case,” Bokeria claimed.
According to the European Georgia Leader, the release of UNM Chair and Giorgi Rurua (founder and shareholder of Mtavari Arkhi TV) is good news, both personally and politically, though the main drawback in this process is that “Ivanishvili’s regime has more or less succeeded in blackmailing with political prisoners.”
The bail of Nika Melia, Chairman of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party in the amount of 40 thousand GEL is paid, the European Union Delegation in Georgia said on its webpage earlier on Saturday.
