European Court rejects Saakashvili’s complaint about mistreatment in prison
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has rejected Georgia’s ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili’s complaint regarding mistreatment in prison, Deputy Justice Minister Beka Dzamashvili told media outlets on Friday.
“The court decision anew proved that the rights and interests of Mikheil Saakashvili in prison are fully protected in line with the standards of the Strasbourg court,” Dzamashvili stated.
For the record, Saakashvili, in his complaint, was arguing about mistreatment and improper medical care.
Saakashvili’s presidential record is notorious for inhumane treatment & torture, esp. in prisons. Now his rights, as of any other prisoner’s rights, are duelly protected – #ECHR has confirmed that it is indeed so. ??’s ??way is a way of #RuleOfLaw & #HumanRights. @COE_Execution pic.twitter.com/5ou58bG7ZH
