Euro-optimists' Gotsiridze: Western allies support opposition in Georgia, some diplomatically, others directly
“The U.S. Embassy, as well as leaders of EU member states, are saying that they support the opposition,” Roman Gotsiridze, leader of the Euro-optimists, told the GPB First Channel.
According to him, some express this diplomatically, while others do so directly.
“This is the first instance where I agree with the position of the Georgian Dream that the U.S. Embassy’s witty, sharp, sarcastic, and humorous posts serve to strengthen the opposition. This is correct because today there is no democratic country in the world that doesn’t want this government changed. The President of France made a statement similar to the U.S. Embassy’s yesterday, conveying he expects a change of government after October 26.
Yes, the U.S. Embassy, the U.S. President, as well as leaders of EU member states are saying that they support the opposition. Some say this in diplomatic language, some directly. The only country supporting the Georgian government is Russia. I’m very amused by the U.S. Embassy’s posts because they combine good content with good form and good humour,” Gotsiridze stated.
