EUMM released a statement on IPRM meeting disrupted by De-facto government representatives
On 14 September 2018, the 89th Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) meeting took place in Ergneti. Following the opening remarks different views were expressed concerning the provisional agenda and participants were unable to continue discussions, – Press Service of European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM) has released a statement.
“On 14 September 2018, the 89th Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) meeting took place in Ergneti. Mr. Erik Høeg, Head of the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM), and Ambassador Rudolf Michalka, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus, co-facilitated the proceedings. Mr. Høeg welcomed ambassador Rudolf Michalka as the new OSCE co facilitator.
Following the opening remarks different views were expressed concerning the provisional agenda and participants were unable to continue discussions.
Co-facilitators expressed their regret that it was impossible to discuss the agenda items. They encouraged a pragmatic approach as previously demonstrated by participants, even on challenging issues.
EUMM and OSCE reiterated their strong commitment for the IPRM format as the only valuable mechanism to address security for the conflicted population living in the vicinity of the Administrative Boundary Line.
The co-facilitators will continue their efforts to have the IPRM meetings resume as soon as possible on a date to be agreed by all participants”, – the statement released by EUMM reads.
The 89th meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) has been disrupted today. The representatives of the de-facto government left the meeting in protest. Georgian State Security Service releases the regarding information.
