EU Political and Security Committee visits ABL
EUMM hosted the EU Political and Security Committee (PSC) on a patrol to the South Ossetian Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) in the area of the Khurvaleti village, the EUMM reported.
During the patrol, EUMM monitors provided the Ambassadors from EU Member States with a briefing on the current security and humanitarian situation. More particularly, they explained how ‘borderisation’ and restrictions on the freedom of movement negatively affect the conflict-affected populations on both sides of the ABL.
After welcoming the PSC delegation, the recently appointed Head of Mission, Bettina Patricia Boughani, said: “This important visit highlights the EU’s strong commitment to stability and security in Georgia. I am deeply grateful for the privilege to lead a committed team of more than 300 EUMM staff. Together, we strive to ensure there is no return to hostilities and foster confidence-building among the divided communities.”
