EU Integration Committee heads meet MEPs in Strasbourg

Chairperson of the Georgian parliamentary European Integration Committee, Maka Bochorishvili, and First Deputy Chairperson, Levan Karumidze, held meetings with MEPs on May 2-5 as part of their working visit to Strasbourg.

The meetings focused on Georgia’s application for EU membership and the need for active support from the European Parliament in granting the candidate status.

MEPs highlighted the need for closer cooperation with associated partners, having addressed the situation in the region because of the Russian military aggression in Ukraine, Georgia’s security challenges, and the occupied territories.

MEPs reiterated their firm support for Georgia’s integration into the European Union and expressed readiness to develop new areas of cooperation.
