“The US, as it implemented several visits before, will dispatch another mission in April that will comprehensively study ongoing processes in Georgia. Further steps will be taken to define common interests,” said Levan Makhashvili, Chair of the European Integration Committee in the parliament.

According to Makhashvili, as a result of each visit and meeting, the parties are gradually trying to rebuild relations with a specific agenda.

Levan Makhashvili went on to say that the Georgian lawmakers implemented various visits and meetings, while the Prime Minister had recently held a telephone call with the U.S. Secretary of State.

“Society sees that following each visit and meeting, we are gradually trying to rebuild relations with a specific agenda. The society is also concerned about an alleged covert agenda beyond this process. However, I would like to assure our society that, as before, our every step is dictated by the Georgian national interests,” he said.

Levan Makhashvili reiterated that the core point for resetting relations with America or cooperating with any other partner will always be Georgia’s national interests.

“Where our interests coincide with U.S. interests, we will move forward on this common ground. However, I would like to reconfirm that we are not going to review our relations at any expense. The main priorities in Georgia are peace, stability and economic development. It is around these interests, where we see common interest with the US, that we will take appropriate steps,” he said.
