EU Integration Committee Chair holds bilateral meetings in Brussels

The Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Maka Botchorishvili, during her working visit to Brussels, held bilateral meetings with the Permanent Representative of Romania to the EU for Foreign Policy and Security Affairs, Calin Ungur , and the Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to the EU, Rumen Alexandrov, as well as the experts and the representatives of the research centers within the round table in the European Policy Centre (EPC) of Brussels.

The discourse included the positive recommendation of the European Commission concerning the EU candidate status for Georgia and compliance with the recommendations. The parties discussed the prospect of December’s decision of the European Council and the positions of the EU member states, as well as the EU enlargement policy and the importance of timely membership of the candidate states deriving from the geopolitical context.

Botchorishvili overviewed the steps taken by Georgia in the EU integration process, the progress in the implementation of the Association Agreement, and the strategic role of Georgia in the region.
