EU-funded study demonstrates Georgia's leadership in SME development, says Ambassador
The EU Ambassador to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski, expressed satisfaction with the European Union’s financial support for the SME Policy Index – 2024 assessment conducted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
The EU Ambassador attended the presentation of the study.
“We are pleased that the European Union funds this study, which demonstrates Georgia’s leadership in all aspects concerning the development of small and medium-sized enterprises,” stated the Ambassador.
The assessment highlighted Georgia’s leadership in various aspects related to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the Eastern Partnership countries.
Herczynski emphasized the crucial role of SMEs, constituting 99% of Georgian companies and employing up to 70% of the total workforce. He mentioned that SMEs are the driving force behind Georgia’s economic development. The ambassador indicated that the index will aid the European Union in providing continuous support for SME development and will help the Ministry of Economy evaluate the effectiveness of its policies.
