“Today bold decisions and leadership needed,” Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement wrote on Twitter:

EU Commission recommends the Council to open accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova;

Open accession negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina once neccessary degree of compliance with membership criteria is achieved;

Grant candidate country status to Georgia on 1/2,” he tweeted.

The European Commission (EC) will recommend the European Council to grant candidate status to Georgia, said Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, at the briefing jointly held with Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement.

The European Council will make the final decision in December.
