“The European Union supports resilient, professional, independent media in Georgia,” said Pawel Herczynski, EU Ambassador to Georgia before the presentation of two studies by Deutsche Welle Academy with the support of EU and partners on the security of journalists and the election environment in the pre-election period.
According to the EU Ambassador, independent media backbone of any democracy
“I’m really glad that today we have gathered experts on the media in order to discuss the issue of media freedom, media independence, resilience to disinformation and in general, media literacy among experts.
Those topics are extremely important in the context of the ongoing electoral campaign, and I’m really happy that as European Union, we have been supporting, including financially, resilient, professional, and independent media in Georgia. Needless to say, free and independent media is the backbone of any democracy,” he said.
