EU Ambassador hopes Georgia's future government to restart work towards joining EU

“We sincerely hope that after the elections, whoever wins the elections, will restart the work towards joining the European Union,” said Pawel Herczynski, EU Ambassador to Georgia.

According to the Ambassador, the zone of peace, development and prosperity should expand to other countries including Georgia.

“European Union is a truly successful peaceful project. For over 70 years, we have ensured, through the European Union, peace, stability, development and prosperity for all member states. We feel that this zone, this family of peace, development and prosperity should be enlarged to other countries, who are knocking on our door, and this includes Georgia.

We have taken this very difficult, but brave decision to welcome you to the European Union. Georgia is an EU candidate country. But this can happen only under certain conditions, and unfortunately, last year has been wasted. Instead of Georgia getting closer to the European Union, the distance has grown even wider, and this is happening while other countries, who wants to join the European Union, have accelerated necessary reforms.

We sincerely hope that after the elections, whoever wins the elections, will restart the work towards joining the European Union,” he stated.
