EU Ambassador believes agreement to be possible

EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell told journalists at the parliament that he sees the possibility to find an agreement that would allow for broad-based participation in the parliament.

“I think there are possibilities to find an agreement that would allow for broad-based participation in the parliament. I would find this the only really good outcome of the current crisis. Everything else to my mind would be a loose-loose-loose situation. It will be a loss for the ruling party, it will be a loss for the opposition, and most importantly, a loss for the Georgian population if it fails,” Carl Hartzell declared.

The Ambassador added, there are many aspects concerning creating the right ambiance to allow the different sides to come close together, building confidence. He evaluated the parliament’s decision not to revoke the opposition mandates as a precondition to keep the dynamics of the continued negotiations.
