Eter Liparteliani wins World Judo championship

Georgia’s judoka Eter Liparteliani has won the World Championship taking place in Budapest, Hungary.

The 25-year-old judoka defeated Japan’s Momo Tamaoki by ippon in the women’s 57kg category final, becoming the first Georgian woman to claim a world judo title.

Two other Georgians also competed in the tournament. Lasha Shavdatuashvili (73kg) and Nino Loladze (57kg) were defeated in the early stages.
